Shoppers recognize the value of sustainable sourcing
Bananas have to be cheap, right? Consumers today are more and more aware that “cheap” comes at a cost for people, the planet or both. Our latest consumer research shows that there’s a lot of room to grow in bananas!
Based on average prices of conventional and organic bananas, the cost difference of purchasing Fairtrade certified fruit is just $5-11 per year over the cost of purchasing uncertified bananas. A majority of US shoppers surveyed think that’s an acceptable premium to pay for a sustainable, ethically sourced banana!
